2-day Cuc Phuong NP Discovery

Cuc Phuong National Park and the surrounding area are an ideal side trip from Hanoi, and they are situated in Ninh Binh province 130 km south of Hanoi. With subtropical rainforest valleys and a highest point at about 600 meters, the Park is a significant wildlife reserve and ecosystem. It is home to an important rescue center for endangered primates and a conservation center for turtles. Other rare and severely endangered mammal species, including as tigers and leopards, call it home. In addition to the more than 300 bird species that can be observed, there are at least 280 butterfly species. 

There are several trails in the forest of Cuc Phuong for you to visit some most impressive trees at Cuc Phuong and a peep into the a brief look into the life of pre-historic man's cave. Accommodation is basic at the national park guesthouse which could be either near the Headquarters of the National Park or further in Bong Station at the center of the park.

Day 1: Hanoi - Cuc Phuong National park (L, D)
From Hanoi we drive south to Cuc Phuong national park. Once we have settled into our rooms we will visit the Endangered Primate Rescue centre and learn a little of the work that is being done to preserve the endangered native primates. We also visit the Botanical gardens. We have dinner and stay over-night in accommodation in the head quarter of the forest. We will spend a night drifting off to sleep to the sounds of the nocturnal activity outside.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong - Hanoi (B, L)
Rising this morning with the sounds of the forest all around us, we take a drive to the center of the park, where we commence our today trek through the lush rainforest, past centuries old trees and to caves once inhabited by prehistoric humans. We have lunch then before heading back to Hanoi.
